Free forever with a watermark: unlimited mattes, and a licence key removes the watermark. Same installer as the paid version.
- Every feature, with a watermark. Every preset, Pick subject, despill, light wrap, in After Effects and Resolve. Unlimited mattes, no time limit.
- No account, no licence check. The free version needs no email and no internet connection for the licence. The first model setup still downloads models from Hugging Face.
- Evaluation and personal use. The free version is for evaluation and personal non-commercial use. Commercial work needs a licence.
- Same installer. Buying later just means pasting your key. Nothing to reinstall.
Your footage is never uploaded: matting runs on your own GPU in the free version too.
Before you install
- Windows 10 or 11, and an NVIDIA graphics card with at least 8 GB of video memory (8 GB runs Draft, 16 GB Balanced, 24 GB Quality).
- After Effects 2024 or newer, or DaVinci Resolve Studio 21 (the free edition is not tested yet).
- About 10 GB on disk for the app and engine (setup checks for 14 GB free), plus 35 to 42 GB free in the models folder for the first model setup. About 15 to 25 GB of models stays on disk, plus 3.5 GB if you use SAM 3.
- A free Hugging Face account that has accepted the Lightricks licence, for the one-time model download.
Install
- Quit After Effects and Resolve, then run WispFX-Setup-1.0.0.exe. It needs no admin rights.
- Open After Effects, then Window > Extensions > WispFX. In Resolve, use the WispFX Matte effect.
- Optional: choose Licence > Activate and paste the licence key from your email to remove the watermark.
- Let the panel download its models.
